EPISTAXIS SYMPTOS,CAUSE AND TREATMENT

INTODUCTION:

A epistaxis is a common condition in which blood flows from the nose due to the rupture of small blood vessels inside the nasal passages. It can occur suddenly and may affect people of all ages, especially children and older adults. Most nosebleeds are harmless and stop on their own, but frequent or heavy bleeding may indicate an underlying health issue. Common triggers include dry air, nose picking, allergies, infections, or minor injuries. Proper care and simple preventive measures can help manage and reduce the occurrence of nosebleeds.

CAUSE:

Dry Air: Low humidity dries out the nasal lining, making it more likely to crack and bleed.

Nose Picking: Frequent or forceful touching of the nose can injure blood vessels.

Allergies: Conditions like Allergic Rhinitis cause irritation and inflammation.

Cold and Infections: Upper respiratory infections such as the Common Cold can lead to nasal irritation.

Injury or Trauma: A blow to the nose or inserting objects can cause bleeding.

Frequent Sneezing or Blowing: Excess pressure can damage the nasal lining.

High Blood Pressure: Known as Hypertension, it can increase the risk of bleeding.

Medications: Blood thinners like Aspirin may make bleeding more likely.

Nasal Sprays Overuse: Excessive use of decongestant sprays can dry and damage the nose.

Vitamin Deficiency: Lack of Vitamin C or K can weaken blood vessels.

SYMPTOMS:

Bleeding from the nose: Blood may come from one or both nostrils.

Sudden onset: Bleeding can start unexpectedly without warning.

Blood in the throat: Sometimes blood flows backward into the throat.

Lightheadedness or dizziness: Especially if there is significant blood loss.

Dryness or irritation in the nose: Common in dry weather or allergies.

Frequent nosebleeds: Repeated episodes may indicate an underlying issue.

Mild breathing difficulty: If blood blocks the nasal passage.

Nausea or vomiting: May occur if blood is swallowed.
