HEALTH BENEFITS

Heart health:

Peepal leaves are believed to help with heart palpitations and weakness. Some studies also suggest they may improve blood circulation and help lower cholesterol.

Blood purification:

The seeds inside the small peepal fruit are used in traditional medicine to help detoxify the blood. Consuming 1 to 2 grams of the seed powder with honey twice a day is a common remedy.

Sexual health:

For impotence, traditional practitioners recommend consuming half a spoonful of peepal fruit powder three times a day with milk.

Jaundice:

A concoction of peepal leaves and sugar candy is suggested in traditional medicine to help manage jaundice.

Ear infections:

For ear infections, the extract from peepal leaves can be warmed and a few drops placed in the ear.

Anticonvulsant effects:

Research has shown that extracts from peepal fruit may possess anticonvulsant properties, offering protection against seizures.

Anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial:

Scientific studies have shown that the fruit contains flavonoids, which provide anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antifungal effects.

Nutritional profile

High fiber: Provides over 9 grams of dietary fiber, which supports digestive health.

Minerals: A good source of calcium (up to 848 mg in dried fruit) and magnesium.

Vitamins: Contains vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, C, and K.

SIDE EFFECTS:

Allergies:

People with allergies to figs or latex should use caution, as peepal fruits contain latex and may cause skin rashes or other allergic reactions.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding:

There is insufficient research on the effects of peepal fruit consumption during pregnancy and breastfeeding, so it is recommended to consult a doctor.

Diabetes medication:

If you take medication for diabetes, monitor your blood sugar levels closely. Peepal fruit has blood-sugar-lowering properties and could cause dangerously low blood sugar levels (hypoglycemia) when combined with other medication.

Surgery:

Since peepal extracts can interfere with blood sugar levels, it is advised to stop using them at least two weeks before any scheduled surgery.

HOW TO USE:

1. Medicinal Use (Traditional Ayurvedic Way):

Dry and Powder:
Collect ripe Peepal fruits, dry them under sunlight until completely dehydrated, then grind into a fine powder.

Consumption:
Take a small amount (like 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon) of this powder mixed with water, honey, or warm milk.

Purpose:
Used traditionally to aid digestion or relieve constipation.

Important: Use only under expert guidance because Peepal fruit is potent and may cause side effects if taken incorrectly.

2. For Birds and Wildlife:

You can simply leave the fruits on the ground or in trees to feed birds and small animals, as Peepal fruit is an important food source for them.

3. Not Usually for Direct Eating:

The Peepal fruit is small, hard, and not sweet, so it’s generally not eaten raw or used like regular edible figs.

Important Note:

Peepal fruit is mostly used in traditional medicine, and it’s not a common kitchen ingredient.

If you want to use it medicinally, always consult an Ayurvedic doctor or expert to avoid misuse.
